Founded in 1666 by Gerdt Störning, Stafsjö began as a cannon manufacturer, supplying artillery across Europe for nearly two centuries. By 1881, the company shifted its focus to valve production, marking the beginning of a new era in industrial solutions. In 1928, Stafsjö introduced its first knife gate valve, the “Massaventil,” engineered for pulp stock applications. This innovation laid the foundation for Stafsjö’s reputation as the global leader in knife gate technology.
Over the decades, Stafsjö has consistently advanced valve engineering:
- 1968: Launch of the through-going H2G valve, now known as HG, for high pulp consistency.
- 1989: Introduction of the RKO valve for severe junk trap services.
- 2002–2007: Expansion into chemical-resistant valves, wastewater solutions, and complete junk trap systems.
- 2012–2016: Development of high-pressure ranges (HX, SLH, SLX) and the WB14E valve with bi-directional zero leakage shut-off.
Today, Stafsjö delivers over 22,000 valves annually to industries worldwide, combining tradition with cutting-edge technology.
